Safety Guidelines for a Safe and Enjoyable Adventure

Our safety guidelines to ensure a secure and fun experience for all riders.

Personal Safety and Equipment

Ensuring your personal safety and having the right equipment is paramount to the success and enjoyment of our guided tours. MTB Adventures Somerset & Wiltshire mandates that all riders wear a properly fitted helmet at all times during the activity. Additionally, riders should wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. It's also important to ensure your bike is in top condition before setting off; brakes, tyres, and gears should be checked and maintained regularly. We recommend carrying a basic repair kit, including a pump, spare inner tubes, and a multi-tool, to handle minor repairs on the trail.

Trail Etiquette and Awareness

Respecting the trail and other users is crucial to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Always remain on marked trails and follow the guidance Martin provides. Avoid riding in restricted areas and respect all signs and barriers. Keep a safe distance from other riders and be considerate of their space, especially when overtaking. Signal your intentions clearly and communicate with your fellow riders to avoid collisions. Trail awareness also means being mindful of the natural environment and wildlife; do not disturb plants or animals, and always leave no trace by taking all rubbish with you.

Emergency Preparedness

Being prepared for emergencies is a critical component of our safety protocols. Martin is trained in first aid and equipped with a first aid kit.

Riders are encouraged to carry a personal first aid kit with any necessary medications and it is essential to stay hydrated so make sure you carry enough water for the duration of the ride.

In case of an emergency, remain with your group and listen to the instructions you are given. Mobile phone reception can be unreliable in certain areas, so ensure your phone is fully charged.

Martin always carries a GPS tracker with an emergency beacon to alert someone back at home if he needs help.
